As we sat in our home this President’s day weekend, pondering the meaning of what it is to be a “great President” and watching the History Channels Presidents special, we here at “If I Blog It They Will Come” came to realize that like a great President and great American you have served your country admirably through the characters you’ve portrayed on the Silver Screen.
You were the most prudent of lawmen in Wyatt Earp and The Untouchables. You fought for the truth to be uncovered and for justice to be served as District Attorney Jim Garrison in JFK. You also stood side by side with our beloved 35th President during The Cuban Missile Crisis, one of our nation’s most harrowing of times, when you portrayed Special Assistant Kenny O’Donnell in Thirteen Days.
I guess what we’re saying is that cinematically, you’ve served your time as an instrument of the goverment. Maybe it’s time for you to heed your calling and declare your candidacy for the office of President of the United States. Who’s going to beat Kevin Costner in an election? There are very few people that we can think of that are more American than you. When we here at “If I Blog It They Will Come” think of America, we don’t think of Apple Pie, we think of Kevin Costner. In fact, that can be your slogan, “As American as Kevin Costner”. Just think about it….”President Costner”. It has a nice ring to it. We believe this is the role you were born to play. Plus, by getting elected President you could finally tell someone “get off of my plane” since you never got to say it in Air Force One because you so generously handed the role as President in that film to Harrison Ford even though IT WAS WRITTEN FOR YOU!
Mr. Costner, we strongly urge you to make your intentions known and ease the collective unconscious of the American people, who will no doubt be relieved to see you behind the desk in the oval office. And even if you don’t feel like running for President we strongly urge you to send us a photo of yourself looking at our blog to djayek@yahoo.com. We know we’re asking a lot…but we believe you can win this thing/and send us a photo of yourself looking at our blog.
We here at “If I Blog It They Will Come” and the American people look forward to hearing from you soon.
Sincerely,
The honest hard working Americans at “If I Blog It They Will Come”

How funny! 1993 I was
18. I voted for the first time. George Bush Sr. and Bill Clinton were running. I didn’t vote for either of them. I wrote in Kevin Costner. My best friend said it made Leno but that’s all word of mouth. It did make the front page of the local newspaper.
